Life and its Surprises!

Hello friends!

I know it has been almost the entire year without any sort of update on my website. I’m so sorry! 2015 has turned into my most surprising and exciting year yet and with so many changes in my personal life, it has been hard to do much of anything other than my full-time job and taking care of my growing family.

I’ve been writing when I can, here and there, but it hasn’t been nearly as much as I wanted to. What could take me away from writing this long? Well after my challenging year in 2014, things in 2015 picked up and took off. I’m shocked it’s the end of October and I’m still standing! I won’t bore you with too many details, but the short version of this crazy year is that I married the love of my life, an incredible man who lifts me up and encourages me to do and be anything; we built a new home, sold both our old homes and moved into the new place; and we welcomed beautiful twin girls into the world.

Our babies are on a nice schedule now at 5 weeks, so hopefully with the napping that is going on, I’ll have time to refocus and get in some quality writing time. I can’t promise anything — it has been unpredictable taking care of two little angels, but now things are finally getting into routine and calming down. Which means, I can get back to hobbies!!! I can’t wait 🙂

Thank you to all of you who have been keeping in touch and asking about Sacrificed. I can’t wait to wrap up the series and get the conclusion out to all of you. Thank you for your patience and I hope you’ve had a wonderful year!

Cheers!

Post UtopYA Motivation

Hello everyone 🙂

Happy Tuesday! I’m finally settling back into the grove of things after being away at UtopYa 2014!

There were some great things about this past weekend in Nashville. The best was getting to meet my dear friend and writing sister, JL Durfey, in person. I think my stomach still hurts from laughing so much all weekend. It was such a fun time learning together, giggling, and talking about new things we can do for our careers.

One big thing that I took away from this conference was a renewed motivation. Sylvia Day was one of the keynote speakers and her speech was so inspirational. The biggest take away that I had from her was the more you write, the better you will become. I always have so many ideas swirling around in my head. I need to refocus and get those ideas out to readers. Especially Sacrificed so I can get you all in on what happens to Ariya and the gang 🙂

While playing around Nashville with JL was amazing, the other absolutely incredible thing for me was that I got to meet Amy Bartol. She was one of the people who inspired me to write when I learned about her work in this community. It gave me the motivation at the beginning that maybe, just maybe, I could try to write as well. I got to meet her in person and she was so incredibly sweet. I wanted so badly to be professional, but I fangirled hardcore instead. I can keep my cool around professional athletes, musicians, etc. Put me in front of an author I love though and I’m a crazy person.  Anyway, she asked me to do a book swap which resulted in me getting to have a picture with one of my favorite authors holding Protected and Awakened (Books 1 and 2 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy). That alone made the entire weekend 🙂

Overall, for a first conference, UtopYA was a good one. I learned what to look for in regards to future conferences for myself, and got some great ideas for new swag and future booth set-ups. I’m glad that I got the opportunity to meet some other great authors, which is always a positive!

Now, the pressure is back on for Sacrificed 🙂 I have so many things coming together in ways I never expected with this one. Things are surprising me, and I can’t wait to get back to writing it. I don’t have an update as far as a release date goes, but I will keep you posted and be working hard to finish it! Stay tuned to the site for teasers and check out the few here that have already been posted.

That’s it from me 🙂 Hope you all have a great week!

Cheers to 2014!

Hi everyone!

I can hardly believe that we are in the last day of 2013! This year has flown by (yes I realize everyone says that – but it’s so true)!!!!

While this year ended up being my toughest yet personally, I’m so thankful for so many things. Not only did I meet some of the most wonderful, helpful, and inspiring people, but I also got to watch a dream of mine come true. I was blessed with not one book being completed and released, but two. Through those books, I’ve gotten to know new friends and gained such an appreciation for the indie world. There are so many amazing writers, bloggers, and readers out there, and I can’t believe I am lucky enough to get to know so many of you.

In many ways I’m glad to say goodbye to 2013 and thrilled to start 2014. I’m especially excited to continue on this journey with all of you. Sacrificed will be coming out in the early months of 2014, I’ll  be attending and participating in UtopYA 2014, and I will get to start a new book that I’ve had swirling around in my mind. There is a lot to look forward to!

With it being the time for resolutions…here are mine for 2014:

1. Worry Less – Typical one for people, yes. However, I worry way too much in everything. Taking some deep breaths and letting go a bit is going to be something I work on.

2. Write a little bit each day – I heard this from another writer and think it’s excellent. Even if it’s only a few sentences.

3. Eat HealthierTypical again. However, now that I’m in my late twenties, I think my midnight snacking while writing should probably be with carrots instead of Cheetos, Wings, and Pizza.

4. Travel – Besides Nashville in June, my goal is to travel to at least one place I’ve never been before.

I’m sure I will continue to add more throughout the day as I reflect on this past year, but those are what I have for now.  Feel free to leave yours in the comments!!

I think this is an appropriate quote to leave you with, both for writers and readers alike, to keep in mind for the new year. “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one.” – Brad Paisley

Have a safe end to 2013 and a very Happy New Year! Cheers!! ❤
