Here We Go!

WOW! Let me just start this post by saying, I know it has been a LONG time since I have updated you all and wrote a ‘hello.’ However, you are incredible! I have been getting so many kind, wonderful and thoughtful notes about how you’re patiently waiting for Sacrificed to come out! As a reader, there have been so many times when I’ve been desperate for the next or final book in a series to come out. I know how it feels! To think that so many of you are feeling those emotions for my work is humbling and something I never thought would happen. I’m thrilled you are excited and as attached to Ariya, James, Nick and Caroline as I am!

I know it has been a long road… and many of you were probably thinking this:

But GUESS WHAT?! I am ready to move past the writing stage!!

That’s right, we are on our way! Sacrificed has been sent to my amazing writing / critique partner.  This is the first big step for me (besides the actual writing part 🙂 ). It’s the first time someone else sees the book and helps with feedback, some editing and letting me know if they enjoy it! This is the part where I’m able to get critiques and go back through the book to make sure that all the questions raised are answered! Sometimes it’s hard as the author to make sure that plot holes are all filled in. I know everything about my characters — feelings, thoughts, what has happened and will happen to them, etc. So it’s always helpful for me to have someone I trust read and edit the book in the first round to tell me if I’ve left something in my head & forgotten to push the information to you, the reader!

I’m so excited about moving Sacrificed to the next stage of the process. There is some more writing that needs to be done, but the majority is THERE! It now comes down to editing and filling in the missing pieces.

Harry Potter funny writing

This stage does take some time, with edits, back and forth communications and reworking some portions of the book. However, for me it’s one of the most exciting because I get feedback on what I’ve been working on for so long!

So for those of you who have been so patient with me, THANK YOU! You’ll hear from me soon on how it’s going, but until then … Happy Reading and Have a GREAT start to your summer!

Life and its Surprises!

Hello friends!

I know it has been almost the entire year without any sort of update on my website. I’m so sorry! 2015 has turned into my most surprising and exciting year yet and with so many changes in my personal life, it has been hard to do much of anything other than my full-time job and taking care of my growing family.

I’ve been writing when I can, here and there, but it hasn’t been nearly as much as I wanted to. What could take me away from writing this long? Well after my challenging year in 2014, things in 2015 picked up and took off. I’m shocked it’s the end of October and I’m still standing! I won’t bore you with too many details, but the short version of this crazy year is that I married the love of my life, an incredible man who lifts me up and encourages me to do and be anything; we built a new home, sold both our old homes and moved into the new place; and we welcomed beautiful twin girls into the world.

Our babies are on a nice schedule now at 5 weeks, so hopefully with the napping that is going on, I’ll have time to refocus and get in some quality writing time. I can’t promise anything — it has been unpredictable taking care of two little angels, but now things are finally getting into routine and calming down. Which means, I can get back to hobbies!!! I can’t wait 🙂

Thank you to all of you who have been keeping in touch and asking about Sacrificed. I can’t wait to wrap up the series and get the conclusion out to all of you. Thank you for your patience and I hope you’ve had a wonderful year!

Here’s to 2015

Is it really 2015?! I can’t believe that I am sitting in my living room, staring at a calendar that reads January 2015. It just seems strange to me. Strange and fantastic!

Most people feel that the new year is a new, clean slate. I am one of those people…I’m definitely one of those people. That feeling has never been more true than this year, though.

2014, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, has been quite the doozy. The year taught me things about myself, about others, about finding my own strength, about starting again, and about being brave. It was a year where I tried to recharge, look after myself, and to try to find some balance again. I’m not sure how successful I was at the whole balancing thing, but I was successful at trying and at being strong.

As I close out a painful, yet challenging 2014, I am so excited about the future. There are so many positive, beautiful, and incredible things that I have planned for my 2015 already. The thought of getting to be the me that I was meant to (clichĂ©, I know) is truly something I’m looking forward to. I’m blessed to have the people who really matter surrounding me and standing by me. I made it through this year filled with trials with a new heart and a new appreciation for the people I have in my life. I felt beaten and at the bottom, but I got back up. I dusted my heart off, opened it up again, and realized that without the painful times, I wouldn’t appreciate the amazing times that came at the end of the year.

I’m looking forward to new adventures, new books (yes, still working out Book 3, Sacrificed, I promise), new strength, and more love.

I hope that whatever point you are at in your journey, that you know you are strong. You are stronger than you think; stronger than you know. I hope you have courage, even when it doesn’t make sense to. Most importantly, I hope you never shut yourself out from the world around you. There are beautiful and wonderful things waiting for you, especially when you’re at rock bottom. I hope that 2015 brings you a turning point if you need it, love, laughter, and pure joy. Here’s to 2015!

I’ll be updating soon 🙂

~Sending love and well wishes from my home to yours~

A Hello from the Writing World

Hi friends!

Things have been quiet on here – I know! I haven’t had many updates unfortunately. I’m SO sorry for that! Thank you to all of you who have been reaching out and touching base.  I am as anxious as you are to have Sacrificed out and released.

I have said it a few times, but this year has been very difficult. I have been pulled away from my writing due to some personal situations as well as my full-time job. It has been a crazy year, but ultimately a beautiful one. I’m trying hard to get back to a place where I can write a bit more consistently.  I want the BEST product out there for you to read and get your hands on and I will work hard to make sure that happens.

Sacrificed is currently sitting at 40,000 words with lots of surprises. Ariya and the gang have been taking me on quite a roller-coaster as I work through what is happening in that world 🙂 I hope that is a good thing for you as readers. I hope when I do finish and get this out, that you are as surprised as I was at some of the events that bring us to the conclusion of the Ariya Adams Trilogy.

I don’t have an update at this time about the release date, but once I know more and have more written, I will let you know.

Thank you for your patience and for all of the continued support. It has meant more to me than you will ever know.

There are a few teasers from Sacrificed up on the site if you want to take a sneak peek while you wait for the full book to come out.

Thank you again and I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to the holiday season!

Talk soon ❤

Post UtopYA Motivation

Hello everyone 🙂

Happy Tuesday! I’m finally settling back into the grove of things after being away at UtopYa 2014!

There were some great things about this past weekend in Nashville. The best was getting to meet my dear friend and writing sister, JL Durfey, in person. I think my stomach still hurts from laughing so much all weekend. It was such a fun time learning together, giggling, and talking about new things we can do for our careers.

With the lovely JL Durfey, author of the Kali Lockton Trilogy, at our Exhibitor Booth

One big thing that I took away from this conference was a renewed motivation. Sylvia Day was one of the keynote speakers and her speech was so inspirational. The biggest take away that I had from her was the more you write, the better you will become. I always have so many ideas swirling around in my head. I need to refocus and get those ideas out to readers. Especially Sacrificed so I can get you all in on what happens to Ariya and the gang 🙂

Set up at our Exhibitor Table with Ariya Adams swag

While playing around Nashville with JL was amazing, the other absolutely incredible thing for me was that I got to meet Amy Bartol. She was one of the people who inspired me to write when I learned about her work in this community. It gave me the motivation at the beginning that maybe, just maybe, I could try to write as well. I got to meet her in person and she was so incredibly sweet. I wanted so badly to be professional, but I fangirled hardcore instead. I can keep my cool around professional athletes, musicians, etc. Put me in front of an author I love though and I’m a crazy person.  Anyway, she asked me to do a book swap which resulted in me getting to have a picture with one of my favorite authors holding Protected and Awakened (Books 1 and 2 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy). That alone made the entire weekend 🙂

Book Swap Picture with the amazing Amy Bartol!!!

Overall, for a first conference, UtopYA was a good one. I learned what to look for in regards to future conferences for myself, and got some great ideas for new swag and future booth set-ups. I’m glad that I got the opportunity to meet some other great authors, which is always a positive!

Now, the pressure is back on for Sacrificed 🙂 I have so many things coming together in ways I never expected with this one. Things are surprising me, and I can’t wait to get back to writing it. I don’t have an update as far as a release date goes, but I will keep you posted and be working hard to finish it! Stay tuned to the site for teasers and check out the few here that have already been posted.

That’s it from me 🙂 Hope you all have a great week!

Happy Memorial Day and Protected Giveaway

Hi everyone!

First and foremost, I want to take a moment to say thank you to all those who are serving, or have served, our county. Sometimes we take for granted the sacrifices that so many people have made so that we may enjoy all the freedoms we do. This Memorial Day, I want to make sure I say THANK YOU! It should be said everyday because I truly am grateful to wake up each day here in the land of the free. Thank you to each and every one of you. Your service and selflessness is one of the greatest blessings and gifts there is. Thank you for all you have done. Thank you for all you do. God Bless You.

Now, I know I’ve been quiet again lately. I just finished re-editing Protected! I had that as a goal before UtopYA 2014. There were definitely areas to improve, and I’m so excited to have it out there, re-edited, and in such great shape. Julie at the Book Gardener (Check out her Facebook page here) had edited Awakened for me and helped me go back through Protected. She is absolutely amazing. Any indie authors out there – please visit her page and see what she can offer. She has an amazing eye and has taken my stories and cherished them as her own. I’m so thankful to get to have such a great relationship with such a beautiful person!

My next goal is getting both Protected and Awakened in paperback form before the conference. I’m pushing to get that done with the help of the amazing J.L. Durfey 🙂 (Thanks girl!!). We will both be exhibiting at UtopYA! I can’t wait for June 20th!! If you haven’t checked out J.L.’s work you need to! She’s an Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance author, who I have written about many times, and is also under the Writing Sisters tab 🙂 Dreamer, Book 1 in her Kali Lockton Trilogy, is FREE ON AMAZON! I’ve even included the link there for you to one click! Fair Warning: You will be hooked!

So while I’m working on finalizing things for the conference, and of course getting things down for SACRIFICED (Book 3 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy), I thought I’d do a GIVEAWAY! I’d like to get Protected out to some NEW FANS who may not have read the book yet. Here’s how you can snag a copy. The first 5 newbies to comment on my Facebook Page, OR Contact Me here on the website through the form, OR ask to be added to the mailing list on the Contact Me Tab, will get a copy of Protected (Book 1 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy). If you haven’t read Protected, now you can! If you’ve already read Protected and know someone who might find it interesting, let them know they can get it from me for FREE now!

I’m also working with some bloggers in the next week or so who will be doing Flash Giveaways of Protected! Stay tuned for that information. These bloggers are fantastic and I have discovered so many fun, new reads from their reviews and spotlights!!

I think that’s all from me for now! I hope everyone has a fun and SAFE Memorial Day Weekend!

Talk to you soon! ❤
